Your first visit. What to expect.
1. BRIEF PAPERWORK
Once you book your new patient appointment, you will be emailed your new patient paperwork to fill out. Please have this completed prior to your appointment.
You will be given a tour of the office, and then guided to an exam room where you will have a consultation with the Doctor to discuss the reason for your visit and any health goals. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have at this time.
At this point we will run a series of checks including orthopedic and neurologic tests, a posture evaluation and scans to assess stress and balance in the neuromusculoskeletal system. These tests are painless and include surface electromyography, thermography, heart rate variability as well as your range of motion, palpation of motion in your spine and reflexes. We will get your % oxygenation in your blood, blood pressure and heart rate to get a glimpse of your cardiovascular health. Our goal is to determine if your case can be helped through chiropractic care.
Once we finish the exam, Dr. Shantai will determine whether you can receive your first treatment or if other tests must be done. This may include imaging such as X-ray or MRI.
Finally, you will be scheduled for a Report of Findings, where Dr. Shantai will explain what was found in your examination and customize a treatment plan suited for you. Your first visit will take approximately 45 minutes in total.
Do you accept health insurance?
Dr. Shantai Watson is a NON-PARTICIPATING MEDICARE PROVIDER. This means you will pay for your new patient exam and adjustment at the time of service. We will determine whether your complaint would be reimbursable by Medicare, and if so, we will send in your Medicare claim. You will then be reimbursed directly by Medicare.
Dr. Shantai is an out-of-network provider with all other insurance companies. With out-of-network insurance, there is usually a separate deductible that must be met and collected before the insurance company will pay for services. After that, your insurance company will cover a percentage of your care and you will be responsible for the rest.
As an out-of-network provider, Dr. Shantai is better able to provide the care YOU need, not as dictated by the insurance provider. It also means she can provide services and modalities you wouldn't otherwise receive, and spend more time with you during your appointments.
